Washington No. 8

Though plat maps show an earlier school existing between 1875 and 1900, a newer building was built on the same land in 1912. This school was named the Hazel Glen School (Washington No. 8), though records also refer to it as the Key Stone School. At some point the building was moved onto land near Mount Ayr's community school to serve as a classroom until 1979. Later it was moved once more to Ellston and placed at the Pioneer Center (Ellston Pioneer Museum) where it was restored and opened as a museum itself. As of 2024 the museum remains open to the public.
