Puckerbrush School (Original Site)

The Puckerbrush School (Otter Creek No. 3, Pleasant Ridge School) was built in 1869 in section 17 of Otter Creek Township, Lucas County. It remained open until 1963 and was the last to close in the county. Upon closing, the district consolidated with the Chariton Community School District. In 1967, the district sold the building at auction for $1. The following year it was moved to the Lucas County Historical Society's property in Chariton where it was restored and opened to the public as a museum. As of 2024, the school is still operated as a museum and can be visited through the Lucas County Historical Society.
