The Morning Star School (Walnut No. 5, also known as the Bright School) was used from 1883 through the 1948 school year. While open, the school faces west instead of the traditional south. In 1992, the building was bought by the Greater Shenandoah Historical Society and moved across the county line to the Sports Park in Shenandoah, Page County, IA. It is preserved and used as a museum that is open to the public upon request.
