This building was opened for classes in 1940, replacing an earlier building that had burnt down. It was consolidated into Elm Grove Rural Independent district by 1955 and officially joined the Des Moines Public Schools system in 1957. Today the building is used by the Croatian Fraternal Slavic Center.
