The Schlesser School (Elgin No. 2) was built in 1885 for $400. By 1907, the township was divided into school districts - this school being in district 2. The building was moved to the Plymouth County Fairgrounds in Le Mars, IA in 1961 to serve as a museum. In 2023, a bell was added beside the school in honor of Plymouth County rural school teacher Margaret Pecks, who began her career in 1941.
